Henry Mora saw an opportunity and seized the day.

Where are you planning to be for Thanksgiving this year? Personally held as my favorite holiday, I love the aromas of traditional foods blending with the feast of friends and family gathered to share good company, good food and lots of stories.

Inspiration for what you really want in life.
There are too many moments that are squandered, regretted and missed. An opportunity can be missed in one moment?s hesitation. Are you taking the time to enjoy the nice things that happen around you, being thankful for all your blessings, and appreciating this very moment, even if it?s not so perfec
The immediacy of consciously being that which you are and have always been is not something that has ever been available to humans before. A completely new wine has fountained forth and it cannot be stored in the manner that we have been accustomed to storing wine; the old wine skins are no longer a valid receptacle; they are no longer capable of storing the quality that this new wine is.
Each of us play a number of roles through our lives, daughter/son, spouse, student, employee/employer, leader/follower. Unlike an annual dress-up day, these roles are real and sometimes come with expectations we inadvertently take on and push ourselves to fulfill, even though they have nothing to do with us. Tough stuff, this living in the real world, but here we are, hopefully aiming to do our best and make a difference along the way.
Whether you need instant wisdom or just a shoulder to cry on, there really is someone who never sleeps, and is waiting for you with open arms at any time of the day or night.
Last week at this time we were on the home stretch to Christmas Eve and chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Only days later, we are packing away the last vestiges of another almost-spent year. January issues of home decorating magazines foretold this story when they hit the newsstands at mid-December. Retailers hit the ground running with web-based clearance sales that started Christmas morning. The magazines are lined up to assist us in clearing out our closets, letting go of what we no lon
I was thinking back to a time in my youth when I ran the 300 meter hurdles in track. I competed with many talented athletes, and I felt that I was only mediocre. I rarely placed, and I waisted far too much of my training with crippling thoughts like: If I only had the long stride like she does;...
In one of my more carefree moments the other day, I decided I must be an infovore: someone who devours information on all sorts of subjects. That's why I'd memorised the HP sauce bottle label when I was 5 years old. That's why I've got a dozen different books on my bookshelf waiting to be read and I'm currently reading at least three. That's why I seem to have done so many courses, and learnt so much 'stuff' - and yet I'm still hungry for more.
"Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom."
The magic of being "you" runs a lot deeper than this beginning stage of finding this "you" of you, but you cannot come to the clarity and quality of who you are if you do not get on with the seeing and being of who "you" are to begin with. First things first, one step at a time, from this moment to the next "this moment."
Midterm elections are less than two weeks away. Although we have been hearing about them from the national media for months, the real indicator of how close they loom is the increased frequency of candidate exposure through television ads, newspaper coverage and the lawn signs dotting our streets. Our political process in the United States is unique, still relatively new, and carries with it the heritage of the marketing manifest destiny that more is always better.
The greatness of an individual lies not in what he accumulates but what he gives. Jesus is great because he suffered on the cross so that we are saved. Gandhi was great as he fought for freedom and equality. Mother Teresa was great as she spent her life serving poor, sick and destitute.

Watching the evening news, despite my desire to stay aware of what is happening around the world, has become more heartbreaking than informative these days. Particularly difficult for me are the reports coming out of Iraq. The devastation to the Iraqi people, their homes, businesses, places of worship and the culture itself, may not be repairable. Ever. Building a country from scratch in the middle of a civil war is impossible at best.
Three seemingly unrelated news items caught my attention over the last few days.
President Bush pardoned a turkey today from serving as the centerpiece of someone?s Thanksgiving table. An annual tradition since the Truman administration, the turkey?s gain has also become a timely distraction for flagging Presidential polls.
Most of us think that we know what different situations mean. Oftentimes in life, things occur that seem terrible in the moment only to be viewed differently in hindsight. Our perspective tends to change as we receive more information. This parable tells of a man who didn't rush to judgment.
